Lie: BJP claims that they wanted Right to Privacy as Fundamental Right

#Truth: The BJP opposed the Right to Privacy and was completely against it attaining the status of a Fundamental Right.

It fought against it in court but the Supreme Court put it down. This judgement was a blow to Aadhaar as the Centre now has to convince SC that forcing citizens to give a sample of their fingerprints and their iris scan does not violate privacy.

The BJP wanted to control the voter and study their behaviour so that they can have access to all private information. Through this highly confidential data, they could monitor and then possibly categorize and control the voter to suit their own electoral needs.

Thus, the BJP was completely against the Right to Privacy being recognized as a Fundamental Right.

This judgement by the Supreme Court was a historical one and a blow to BJP’s politics of threat, control and intimidation!
