Manipulation of statements, twisting of facts is what the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is an expert at. A recent example of the same was given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
While reacting to Congress President Rahul Gandhi’s “Bharat Mata ki Jai” jibe, PM Modi said that the former has issued a fatwa that he should not begin his rallies with “Bharat Mata ki Jai” and that Gandhi’s remark showed disrespect for our motherland.
Before making any assumptions and believing as to what PM Modi said, let’s see what Rahul Gandhi had actually said.
While addressing a rally at Alwar’s Malakhera town yesterday, Gandhi said, “Farmers, youth, women and labourers are our ‘Bharat Mata’. In every speech Mr. Modi says ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’, but in reality, he works for Nirav Modi, Mehul Choksi, Anil Ambani. He should begin his address by saying ‘Anil Ambani Ki Jai’, ‘Mehul Choksi Ki Jai’, ‘Nirav Modi Ki Jai’ ‘Lalit Modi Ki Jai’.”
“We will show Mr. Modi how to waive off farm loans in 10 days of forming the govt. That is the true meaning of ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’. We should take care of those who built this nation,” he added.
It is clear from Gandhi’s statement what he intended to say. He meant that PM Modi says ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ but instead of working for farmers, youth and labourers, who are the very core of India, he works for corporates like Anim Ambani, Nirav Modi etc.
Gandhi intended to say that while he said ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ in his words but his action did not reflect the same thing.
But, Modi ji, conveniently twisted Gandhi’s statement and showed it be something disrespecting our motherland.
Both the leaders were addressing rallies so their statements are out there in public. There is nothing to hide and PM Modi’s statement was a sheer attempt to incite hatred in people against the Congress President.
The Congress took to its Twitter account to counter the same. It released a video along with the caption, “This is what PM Modi really means when he says ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’.”
