Not only Quran, Gita and Bible also taught at Karnataka school

A video is currently going viral on social media showing a teacher teaching verses from the Quran to her students in a school. The text accompanying the video says that the school shown in the video is in Karnataka’s Shivamogga, alleging that this is the kind of state of affairs after the Congress-JDS government came to power.

The text also read, “Hindu kids being taught Namaz”.

Such a text clearly indicates towards a set pattern, formed to create a communal divide and polarisation.

The video has been doing the rounds on both, Twitter as well as Facebook.

Some Twitter users even went ahead by tagging HRD minister Prakash Javadekar asking him to take action.

On Facebook, the video has been shared by pages supportive of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

However, the claim has already been debunked by Boom Live and Shivamogga Live, a regional news outfit of Karnataka, but this has not stopped the army of venom-spewing people from spreading this fake news.

What this army has intentionally missed while sharing is the second part of the video. If the first past shows teacher teaching verses from the Quran, the second part of the video shows another teacher teaching students shlokas or verses from the Bhagwad Gita.

Boom Live reported that the incident occurred in Vidhyadeep Vidhyalaya, a kindergarten school in Shivamogga.

Alt News quoted the principal of the school as saying, “For Environment Day we conducted a program where all the kindergarten students recited verses from all the three religious books. Since this was a success we thought of doing it again for Independence Day and the video shows us practicing for the same”.

It is unfortunate than an exercise encouraging harmony amoung young children has been spun in a way to satisfy communal agenda.
