LIE: BJP has no link with Cambridge Analytica

TRUTH: No, it is the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) which hired the services of Cambridge Analytica to extract personal information of Indians and use it to manipulate elections in its favour. As soon as this controversy broke out, political parties started accusing each other of being indulged in the same. However, the Congress Party made it stand crystal clear and asserted that it never had any links to CA.

Cambridge Analytica’s India partner, Ovleno Business Intelligence (OBI) also listed BJP and Janata Dal (United) JD(U) as its clients. The interesting fact being, that the Indian partner (OBI) of CA is being run by Amrish Tyagi, who is BJP ally’s MP’s son. JD(U) is BJP’s alliance partner in Bihar and Amrish is the son of JD(U) leader K.C. Tyagi. Amrish, in media interviews, had also agreed to the fact that BJP and the JD(U) were OBI’s clients and had used its services to conduct research.

“This is fake agenda, a white lie being dished out on fake facts by the Law Minister. And this has become a daily order with Prasad,” Congress communications in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala said in a press conference,  while also alleging that it was actually the BJP and its ally JD(U) which used the services of CA in 2010. Surjewala also mentioned that OBI company’s services were used by Rajnath Singh in 2009.

Listen to the truth here:

The Congress also cited that vice president of OBI, Himanshu Sharma’s LinkedIn profile lists an achievement of achieving Mission 272+ for the BJP and elections in other states. The can of worms has opened and the case is only getting murkier with each passing day.
