BJP government has not built 1.25 crore houses in last 4 years

While speaking at the centenary celebrations of Shri Saibaba Samadhi on October 19, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government built 1.25 crore houses in the last four years.

Well, he seems to have missed data of his own ministry. According to the data on the website of the Ministry of Rural Development, the BJP government has built 52.66 lakh houses as against its target of approximately 1 crore houses. This is just 52.7 per cent of its target.

While speaking, PM Modi made another false claim about the previous UPA government and said that the last government constructed only 25 lakh houses during its regime.

According to the Standing Committee Report on Rural Development 2015-16, as many as 75.11 lakh houses were built between 2007-10 and 87.23 lakh houses between 2010-14. The total number of houses constructed during the entire period is 1 crore 62 lakh and 34 thousand houses, which is far more than what PM Modi had claimed.

So, PM Modi should get his facts checked before stating anything in his speeches.

Lying just to gain politically is another low that a politician can stoop to.
