Only 31 percent of Delhi-Meerut Expressway that Modi ‘Dedicated’ to the Nation is complete

After the much talked about choreographed roadshow and Prime Minister Narendra Modi triumphantly waving from his SUV while inaugurating phase I of the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, people must be happy and excited thinking about the quick drive it would take between the two cities. But to your utter disappointment, the expressway which our Prime Minister Modi proudly inaugurated is still 90 percent non-operational.

According to project director at the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) R.P. Singh, only 31 percent of the 82-km expressway has been constructed to date, out of which, only 8.36 km (which is phase I) is operational. So, technically, Modi only inaugurated the first phase of the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, which is only 31 percent, whereas the 69 percent of it is still to be constructed.

This 8.36 km stretches within the borders of Delhi from Nizamuddin Bridge to the Delhi-Uttar Pradesh border. And after this, the commuters have to get back on the congested four-lane National Highway (NH) 34.

Talking about the other phases, the second phase is 15% complete, while the second and third phases are 60% and 3% completed respectively.

Prime Minister Modi’s habit of lying did not let him resist lying at this occasion also. He was seen saying that the phase I was completed in a ‘record’ 18 months. But, we would like to remind Modi ji, that he himself laid the foundation of the project in December 2015, which leads to a total of 30 months.

So, Modi ji, you can lie but cannot hide the facts. You are anyway famous for missing out on facts and distorting history, and therefore, ending up making bizarre and false statements.
